P. Thomas Feeser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 18 to Jan. 21, 2024.
P. Thomas Feeser, a former resident of Schuylkill Haven, went home to live with His Lord while surrounded by loving family at Lancaster General Hospital on December 22nd. Tom was a resident of Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown, where he lived with his wife, Marilyn, from April 2010 until her death May 2012.

Tom was born in Baltimore, MD, June 14, 1929, to Paul J. Feeser and M. Iona Paxson. During the Depression, they moved to the Schuylkill Mountain, where they cared for aging family members and grew much of their own food. In 1947, Tom graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School and in 1951 from Haverford College. Through music, he met his future wife, Marilyn A. Scolnick, a student at nearby Harcum Junior College; and they married September 1951. Tom was active duty in the U.S. Navy for 3 years and served as a Lieutenant Commander on the USS Melvin.

Throughout his life, Tom was involved in several family construction businesses and professional organizations. He was a long-time Freemason before receiving his 33rd degree in 1979.

Tom and Marilyn were active members of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. Whether singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, or serving committees, Tom responded with commitment. When he and Marilyn moved to the Masonic Village, he sang in the Sell Chapel Choir and Men's Chorus and volunteered with the Pastoral Care Committee and Hospice.

Tom made himself available personally and professionally, meeting the needs of his family and larger community. Whether responding to a neighbor's crisis or providing equipment and coordinating free labor to create an access road for the re-located Lutheran church camp, he was the one people would call for assistance and solutions.

In addition to his wife, Tom was preceded in death by sister M. Barbara Gill, brother-in-law C. Ronald Gill, and sister-in-law Elaine Feeser. He is survived by his brother Robert Feeser, NC. He leaves behind five children who will miss his interest in their lives, endless curiosity, and delight in learning-Cheryl Lynn Feeser, Pottsville, Leslie Joy Wagner and her husband Michael, and Thomas Nathan Feeser and his wife Diane, all of Schuylkill Haven, Rebekah Lee Feeser and her husband Greg Bear, Carlisle, and David Paul Feeser and his wife Claire, Downingtown. He will be remembered by his eight grandchildren, Adrienne, Jessica, and Laurel Feeser; Adam Wagner; Matthew Feeser, Jason Feeser and Eileen Stauffer; Johanna Bear and seven great grandchildren. There are also many nieces and nephews with whom he shared his life. They, too, will miss him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, 3/9/24 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven 17972: Visitation 10AM-11AM and Service at 11AM followed by a reception of light refreshments. On Saturday 3/16/24, a Memorial Service will take place at 11AM for residents and staff at Masonic Village Sell Chapel, Elizabethtown, where Tom worshipped and sang. Thereafter a private family ceremony will take place at the columbarium where his ashes will be placed next to his wife's.

Memorial donations for capital improvements in Tom's name may be addressed to Bear Creek Camp, 3601 Bear Creek Blvd Wilkes Barre, PA 18702 (bearcreekcamp.org).
