Pamela F. Checketts, 75, passed away peacefully in her home on November 26, 2024.
Pam was born in Lock Haven, PA, grew up in Wilmington, DE, and spent her summers on the Chesapeake Bay. Her father inspired her passion for sailing, which she shared with her own children during many voyages on their family's boat, Argo.
After graduating from Conrad High School, Pam pursued her talent for sewing at the Fashion Institute of America in Atlanta, GA. During her studies, she met Roy L. Checketts, who became her beloved husband of 55 years and the love of her life.
She was the proud mother of six children and a grandmother to five. Pam was always fully engaged in their lives, whether crafting costumes for school plays, cheering enthusiastically at sporting events, or offering sage advice, her boundless support and care were a constant source of strength.
Pam's adventurous spirit and a love for travel, was sparked by her studies in London during college. With Roy by her side, they explored the world, became certified scuba divers, and completed over 250 dives. Their journeys took them across continents, inspiring those around them to embrace life's adventures.
Pam honored her family's legacy by becoming a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Zebulon Pike Chapter. Her creativity and kindness touched all who knew her. Her legacy continues in the hearts of her family and friends, who will always remember her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love.
She is now reunited with these beloved souls in heaven: Her father, Henry Cowell Sr., mother, Elaine Cowell, brother, Henry Cowell Jr., mother-in-law, Ann Checketts, son-in-law, Jason P. Andris, her loving dog, Babe, and many other friends and family who have gone before (we imagine Cliff is hugging his "Penelope").
Pam is survived by her devoted husband, Roy L. Checketts, and their six children, who were the pride and joy of her life: Sherry (Mike) Shepherd, Karen (Jason) Kruse, Amy (Kent) Tompkins, Brian Checketts, Julie Checketts Andris, and Lisa Checketts. Her cherished grandchildren: Shelby, Brandon, Carter, Chloe, and Olivia Lily, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Pam's unconditional love for her family will be her everlasting legacy.
"I love you more."
