Pamela Guidera Obituary

Pawcatuck - Pamela (Sullivan) Guidera of Pawcatuck, passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, 2025, at home.

Pam was introduced to this world, June 10,1954, the first of three daughters born to Helen E. and Edward F. Sullivan. Sadly, her father passed just after Pam turned eight years old. Following the death of her father, she was raised by her mother, grandmother Mary and a coterie of strong independent women from the Nicoll Street neighborhood in New Haven where she spent her early years. The bonds that were formed by this sisterhood became the foundation of Pam's life and prepared her well for her future role as matriarch of her own clan.

Pam attended Saint Mary's Grammar School, Hamden High School and graduated from Castleton State College in Vermont in 1977. After college, Pam returned to Latimer Point where she worked summers at the Harbor View Restaurant. There she met the love of her life, Tim. They married in 1992. Shortly thereafter, Pam joined the family embroidery contracting business, retiring in 2021.

She will be remembered for being a loving wife and loyal life partner, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many, especially her caretaker and companion Susan Ward.

Pam loved the beautiful things in life: family and flowers, dancing, traveling and her dogs. She will be remembered most for her hospitality, hosting many holiday gatherings and Sunday dinners at her home in Stonington, and her summer cottage in Oak Bluffs, Martha' Vineyard, Mass.

She was predeceased by her parents; godmother Mary Gertrude McEnerney; the beloved Barrett sisters, Aunt Kay, Marie and Jayne; her dear friend Dottie Sellner; and her beloved retrievers, Pearl and Chester, Eddie and Dexter, and Sugar and Simon. In addition to her husband Tim, she is survived by her little cock-a-poo Moby; her sisters, Ann Sullivan and Eva Guidera; nephew Patrick Murphy; and nieces: Kathleen and Hannah Murphy, Maeve Guidera and Brigid Nossek; and her great-niece and nephew Lily and James. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Laura Paige and Amy Tasca; the Guidera brothers: Rob, Michael, Chris, Matthew and Sean; and Kay Guidera. Pam's family will be forever grateful for the care provided by Masonicare and Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at St. Mary Church, 22 Broad Street, Stonington. Burial will follow the Mass at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. In lieu of flowers, find someone special give them a kiss and a hug and tell them that you love them.

Pam was a wonderful and caring person to our family. Always positive, always caring and genuinely interested in how we were. Either in the business or if we saw her out in town, she took the time to both recognize and ask how life was going. Very grateful for the life she lived and her great impact on her family and friends. A life well lived.

Dear Ann and Eva - Will let me know that Pam has died. I am so sorry for the two of you and the entire Sullivan/Guidera clan. The three of you were cut from the same cloth as your mother: strong, independent and resilient; wise; loving and caring; and solid and true in friendship. The essence of the coterie of women from the Nicoll Street neighborhood (what a wonderful image!) was replicated by you, the Sullivan Girls, as you were lovingly known by my parents, at Latimer Point. I hope the next generation of women - your daughters - carries this legacy forward.

May Pam's memory be a blessing to all.

With xoxo from Susan Lennon and Nick Merritt

Tim, Ann, Eva & family: Very sad to hear about Pam. I have fond memories of lots of fun times laughing with her at parties, attending concerts with her back in the day. She was a gem and I always enjoyed her company. She will be missed. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. xoxo Kathy McCabe
