Pamela “Pam” Hudson Holliday (76) a resident of Pensacola, FL, passed away on September 10, 2024, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Pam was born in Benham, KY, and is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Hudson and granddaughter Beckah Brown. She is survived by her mother, Sybil Hudson; her loving husband of 54 years, Bruce “Doc” Holliday; her three children: Allyson (Scott) Schneider, Grier Holliday, and Brooks Holliday. Pam was a devoted grandmother who adored Pamela, Shelby, and Summer Schneider, and Theo Holliday Benson.
Pam graduated from Albany High School in 1966 and pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education from the Florida State University where she served as president of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta, and met some of her most cherished lifelong friends. It was during her student teaching in Pensacola where she met the love of her life, Doc, and married him only a few months later in 1970. Doc and Pam began their early life together in Hattiesburg and Biloxi, MS, where they started their family of five and made friends who have been an integral part of their lives to this day. In 1982, Pam and Doc decided to settle in Gulf Breeze, FL, where she taught second grade at Oriole Beach Elementary for 20 years. Pam was an exceptional teacher who was chosen as Teacher of the Year for Santa Rosa County among other accolades. As an active member of the community, Pam participated in the Mayokis, Fiesta Five Flags, and the choir at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church for many years. Being a devout Christian, Pam enjoyed the love and support of her church family at GBUMC for more than 40 years.
Following retirement, Pam spent most of her days either on the tennis courts of Pensacola Country Club; sightseeing, shopping, and skiing across the world; or visiting her grandchildren. Pam and Doc along with their friends and family have all enjoyed amazing experiences together creating cherished memories until the disease of Alzheimer’s took over her mind. Now, at last, Pam is free to soar again into her next adventure and she assures you that she’s dancing and singing in Heaven!
The kindness, care and support Pam received from Home Instead and The Arbors of Gulf Breeze during her final years was truly remarkable and her family is forever grateful for their service.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church in Gulf Breeze, FL. A celebration of Pam’s life will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, her family requests a contribution in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
