Pamela (Pam) Ellen King, née Drain, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. Pam was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Paul and Eleanore Drain on September 20, 1945. Pam met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) King in April of 1964 and married him just weeks later on May 9, 1964. They went on to have two children, Kelly and John. She was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Pam lived a remarkable life. She was an accoladed realtor and a well-known, long-time resident of Garden City, where she played a pivotal role in the community and built many lasting friendships, serving several terms on city council and often dedicating her time to helping others. Pam loved to travel, especially to her second home in Aruba -- and anywhere that had a casino for her to play slots at. She also loved to sing and dance, with her amazing playlist on constant repeat on the speaker in her house. While we will deeply miss her physical presence, we choose to celebrate the incredible life Pam lived and the lasting impact she made on all of us. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering strength have shaped the foundation of our family, and her love will continue to guide us. She taught us how to love deeply, laugh freely, and cherish every moment. We find peace knowing she is now in a place of rest, free from a horrible disease and surrounded by all of the beauty and comfort she deserves. Her legacy will live on in each of us, and we are forever thankful for the time we had with her. Pam was preceded in death by her son, John King. She is survived and missed by her loving husband of over 60 years, Richard (Dick) King. Forever cherished and remembered by her daughter, Kelly (Charlie) Dixon; grandchildren, Shelby (Chad) Tuisku, Kennedy (Caden) Winson, Brandon Zack, Jordyn Zack, Olivia Zack, and Isabella King; and two great- grandchildren, Mila and Cole. Her memory lives on through her siblings and their families; Patricia Hill, Robert Drain, Michael Drain, Judith King, and Carolyn Lamphere. Pam leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who will deeply miss her presence. A celebration of life will be held for intimate family and friends in the future.
