Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peoples Funeral Home - Marianna on Nov. 2, 2025.
Mrs. Pamela Cleavette Mills transitioned peacefully into the presence of the Lord on October 31, 2025.
She was born to the late Cleave and Ermia Barkley in
Donaldson, Georgia, on November 21, 1960. She was the third of three children born to this union.
After graduating from Marianna High School, Pamela attended the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), where she proudly earned
her degree in elementary education. Becoming an educator was her dream since childhood, and she pursued it with passion and purpose.
Where a never-ending love began…
Pamela met the love of her life, Cyril Augustus Mills, during church service at Mount Tabor Church (
Marianna, Florida). What began as a divine connection blossomed into a beautiful partnership rooted in faith and devotion. The two were joined in holy matrimony in front of their families at Saint James AME Church (
Marianna, Florida) on June 4, 1988, marking the beginning of a blessed union guided by God's hand. Soon after welcoming their first son, Brandon (1989), they moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where Cyril answered his call to ministry and attended seminary school. Their family continued to grow as they welcomed their daughter Ciara, (1991) and
their youngest son, Christopher (1993). Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, and service to others. In 2000, Pamela and Cyril returned home to Florida and made Tallahassee home to be closer to family where she became a deeply respected educator, devoted family woman, and faithful servant of Christ.
Faith…
As a faithful believer in Christ, Pamela was a dedicated member of Saint City Ministries in Tallahassee, Florida. She also served as the First Lady of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church (Quincy) and Blessed Hope Missionary Baptist Church
(Quincy) for many faithful years, alongside her beloved husband. Over her 40 year teaching career, Mrs. Mills served in the Jackson County School
System in
Marianna, Florida, Jefferson County Schools in Indiana, the Florida A&M University Developmental Research School, and Leon County Schools in
Tallahassee. In the classroom she was not only a teacher-she was a mentor, mother, fixer, confidant, comforter, and friend. She poured into her students, future teachers, and colleagues with grace, wisdom, and a genuine heart for people. Whenever and
wherever she was needed, she was there.
You made it……
In May 2025, she joyfully reached her lifelong goal of retirement. During her final year at Ruediger Elementary School, she experienced an outpouring of love and appreciation from her students, colleagues, and community, a beautiful reflection of the countless lives she touched throughout her career.
A loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, Pamela lived a life centered in family and faith. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her three treasured grandchildren-Georgia, Bradlyn, and Mia-who brought endless love and joy into her life from the moment their existence was known.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sister, Janice Pittman; three children, Brandon, Ciara, and Christopher; and three grandchildren, Georgia, Bradlyn, and Mia Anderson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, former students,
church members, colleagues, and extended family whose lives were forever touched by her love.
Job well done……
Mrs. Pamela Mills' legacy is one of faith, family, service, and education. She will be remembered for her grace, wisdom, love, and the powerful impact she made on every life she encountered.
Her life was a blessing, her memory is a treasure, and her love will remain with us always.
