PAOLA "PAULA" GAMBACCIANI

Paola "Paula" Gambacciani passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, just 9 days shy of her 89 birthday. Paola was born in Florence Italy on February 14 1937. She immigrated to the United States in 1946 with her mother and sister following the end of WW ll. Even though she left Italy at a young age she instilled her Italian heritage upon her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was able to return to Italy several times visiting her birthplace and other special cities including Viareggio, Milan and Como .
Paola is survived by her loving children Denise (Gerald) Tomechko and Jim Phillis, grandchildren Anne (Joseph) van der Oord and Albert (Jennifer) Tomechko. She was Nonna to great-grandchildren Natalia and Rosalia van der Oord and Bryce and Mila Tomechko. She was preceded in death by her father Lorenzo Gambacciani, mother Fanny Wilson and cherished sister Sandra Swartzwelder.

Family will receive friends on Monday February 9, 2026 from 9:00 am until time of Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 33601 Detroit Rd. Avon followed by interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Detroit Rd. The family has requested no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity School or Friendship APL.
