On November 16, 2023, a beautiful reunion occurred when Parley Neel Mitton, age 88, returned to paradise and was reunited with his highschool sweetheart Gay Delia Mitton. Parley entered this world with his twin brother, Emery Thirkill Mitton Jr. on November 13, 1935 to the parents of Louise Black Mitton and Emery Thirkill Mitton Sr. Parley attended Ben Lomond High. After graduation he married the love of his life, Gay in Reno, Nevada in 1954 and they were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple in February of 1955.
Later in life, Parley returned to further his education at Weber State obtaining his B.A. in Art and Photography, graduating in 1983. During his studies he also learned to speak Spanish and graduated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Institute, three times. After completion of his degree, Parley worked as a wedding photographer for several years.
Parley worked for Defense Depot in Ogden for 30 years. He had the opportunity to travel to Guantanamo Bay Cuba, where he trained Marine’s and Seabee’s. After retiring from Defense Depot, he went on to work at Walmart and Macey’s. Parley enjoyed working retail because he had a gift of gab and loved meeting and connecting with people.
Parley had a love for the gospel, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Savior. He served diligently by playing the organ in priesthood for 30 years. Parley had the opportunity to travel to the Holy Lands twice, which was a highlight of his life.
Another highlight were his grandchildren. Parley is survived by 6 of his 7 children: Brian (Bonnie), Evan (Rolene), Karen, Julie, Janet, and Janette (Ruben). He has seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay; son, Steven; his parents, siblings, and step- siblings.
A special thank you for the hospice care that Agis provided, Alicia, and Chaplin Randal for their compassionate care. A special thank you to all the dear friends who visited Parley and made him feel loved. A special thank you to the staff and recreation and activities leaders at Maple Springs.
I will miss you padre and all of the car rides and J & D’s (Jesus Died restaurant). Love you dad today and forever!
