Parris Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hampton Cove Funeral Home Cemetery & Crematory on Jan. 9, 2026.
Parris Anne Carter, a woman of remarkable strength, kindness, creativity, and generosity, passed away on January 8, 2026, peacefully in her bed surrounded by her daughters. Born on June 16, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, Parris brought joy, laughter, and light to everyone she encountered throughout her 67 years.

Parris was a devoted mother, a cherished friend, and a lifelong learner with a deep commitment to helping others. She earned a master's in education, became an LPN, studied social work, and also received her bachelor's in communications-using every part of her education in service to her community. She taught in inner-city schools, provided nursing care to those in need, worked at her local news station, and offered steady guidance to anyone who sought it.

Parris was a multifaceted, driven and creative entrepreneur. She used her creative eye to design and sell beautiful gift designs. She also used her degrees to write educational children's books. Parris had a passion for health and spreading the importance of proper nutrition and developing healthy habits. She started her own YouTube channel crafted toward the 8 Laws of health.

Parris's sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts. Even in difficult seasons, she could make people laugh, ease tension in a room, and remind others not to take life too heavily. She was a natural encourager-warm, quick-witted, and unforgettable in the way she made people feel seen.

Her compassion extended far beyond her own home. Parris opened her doors to single mothers and their children who needed safety and support, and she mothered many young people who simply needed a guiding light. She raised her daughters with strength and courage and remained a source of comfort and encouragement to so many.

Parris is survived by her children, Jazmin Dawkins, Lyndsi Adams, and Lauryn Gosdin, along with her siblings, extended family, and many friends who will deeply miss her.

A celebration of Parris's life will be held on March 1st, 2026 at the Botanical Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to local public schools or classroom supply programs in Parris's name, honoring her love for teaching and lifelong learning.
