Bridget Dione Carter

Bridget Dione Carter, 54, of Seymour, formerly of Columbus, passed away on February 12, 2026 at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour, Indiana.

Bridget was born May 5, 1971 in Columbus, Indiana to parents, Kenny Carter and Rhea Ayers Halfacre. She grew up in Columbus, graduating from Columbus East High School. She worked as a Corrections Officer for the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office and later worked for Pet Supplies Plus. She will always be remembered as a special person who impacted many lives. She enjoyed working with her hands sewing, gardening, arts and crafts, restoring furniture and cooking her mac and cheese, spaghetti and meatloaf among many other meals for her family. Her fondest times were spent with her family, especially her granddaughters.

Preceding her in death are her parents and sister, Kim Carter. Bridget is survived by husband, Gary Janes; children Dakota Martin and her husband, Isaiah, and Brooklyn Law, sister, Lesa Carter and step-sister, Sheila States, step-brothers, Joey Halfacre and Danny Halfacre, step-father, Bill Halfacre, as well as two grandchildren, Bonnie and Olive Martin. She is also survived by the animals that made her life complete, Paisley, Ozzy, Sadie, Lila and Kiki.

Friends may gather with her family from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Voss and Sons, with the funeral being held at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery-Borchers. Bridget requested all attending to wear her favorite color, yellow or pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
