Pasqualina “Lena” (Cozzoli) DiTerlizzi, 94, of South Chatham, formerly of Villa Road in Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29th, 2024.
Lena was born in Shrewsbury, the daughter of Maurice and Paulina (DiLeo) Cozzoli. On May 5, 1951, at St Anne’s Church, Lena and George began their married life of faith, family, love, and devotion. They settled back in the neighborhood where they grew up, with relatives and friends nearby. Over the next 66 years, the families of Plainfield Ave and Villa Rd grew close knit, enjoying gatherings, holidays and special occasions together. When George retired, in 1990, with a love for fishing and the ocean, they moved to their home on Cape Cod, where they lived until George left Lena’s side on April 5, 2017, after 66 years together, She continued to live on the Cape till her passing. Lena worked as accounting manager for the Iandoli Supermarket Corporation many years before retiring.
Lena is survived by her two children, Maurice “Moe” DiTerlizzi of West Yarmouth, Paula J. Donahue and her husband Stephen of Shrewsbury; two granddaughters, Brianna and Devin Donahue; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members; Friends and loving neighbors who became family over the years living together on Cape Cod. Lena found so much enjoyment and love with her children and granddaughters. She cherished Chatham and the quaint family living on the Cape. Lena enjoyed playing cards, going to the Cape theatres, movies, the Hyannis Orchestra, boating with George, her garden, beautiful flowers, and daily walks.
A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, October 3rd from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., before proceeding in procession to St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial with George in Mt View Cemetery will follow.
