Pastor David Townsend

Pastor David Townsend, 73, of Kingsport, entered into his heavenly home on Friday, November 15, 2024. David served as Assistant Pastor for over 40 years at Evangel Family Worship Center, serving alongside his lifelong friend, Pastor James O. Hagy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for four years. David was an avid sports fan, especially for the Tennessee Vols Football team. He knew no strangers…incredibly caring of others, particularly his church family. David was strong in his faith and was evident teaching Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Townsend; son, Paul Townsend; and parents, Robert and Marie Townsend.

Survivors include his brother, Jeff Townsend; grandchildren, Ashley Russell (Eddie) and Benjamin Townsend (Tasia); great-grandchildren, Landon, Taliah, Zane, Aubree and Zion; devoted friend, Brooke Patrick; and longtime friend, Tim Pullon.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Evangel Family Worship Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00pm at the church, with Pastor Chris Carroll officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 1:00pm at East Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors by The American Legion Posts 3/265. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
