Pastor Floyd Curtis Shilling, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on April 5, 1958, Floyd led a life characterized by his deep faith and unwavering commitment to his community.
After graduating from Eastmoor High School, where he excelled as a cross-country runner, Pastor Floyd proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. His military service was a testament to his dedication to his country and exemplified his strong character. Floyd also earned an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was accomplished author of seven books. He was most recently the Senior Pastor at "More Than a Conqueror Ministry."
Pastor Floyd was a man of faith who truly loved the Lord. He poured his heart and soul into the ministry he founded, “More Than a Conqueror Ministries,” inspiring many with his teachings and leadership. Pastor Floyd was incredibly proud of the life he and his wife, Gwendolyn "Pooh" Shilling, created together. The couple shared a bond that enriched the lives of all who knew them.
Family was at the center of Pastor Floyd’s life. He cherished family gatherings and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, often surrounded by good food and laughter. He had a particular fondness for watching TV and supporting his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. His zest for life and dedication to his family remained evident in everything he did.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Gwendolyn "Pooh" Shilling; his sister, Carolyn (Chuck) Wolfe; his brother, Terry (Precy) Shilling; his sister, Denise Wilson; his brothers, Dennis (Barbara) Shilling and Gary (Tammy) Shilling; his daughters, Dametta Clark and Dagayla Brown; his son, Petro (Denico) Brown; Grandchildren, Chaz Allen, Donovan Stamps, Petro Brown II, Armani (Jawin) Brown, Emani Brown, Treanna Brown, Miasia Brown, Trachele Parker, Nell Nell Parker, a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Waldon Shilling; his mother, Aletha Idel Cornwell; his brother, Kenneth Shilling; and his son, Peter Brown.
Pastor Floyd’s memory will be honored during a memorial gathering on April 19, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northeast, located at 3047 E Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231.
His legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
