Bishop James Edward Cane, Sr., age 63, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Bishop Cane is preceded in death by his parents, Elder David M. Cane and Mrs. Obera Cane; sisters, Eva Robbins, Yetta Barnes, Mae Harris, Otera Cane, Opal Cane, Shekela Otey, and Carrie Cane; brothers, David Cane, Wayne Cane, and Albon Cane; and son, James E. Cane Jr.

He leaves behind wonderful memories to: his devoted wife, Alvita M. Cane; his six children, Christine Cane-Wyatt (Dewayne), David Cane, Le'Derrius Dickerson, Vontisha Cane, Gwendolyn Cane, and Benjamin Cane; four brothers, Gentil (Sheila), Lonnie (Catherine), Gregg (Jean), and Kerry Cane; twelve grandchildren; devoted nephews, Jerron Barnes and Jerry Harris; devoted nieces, T'ongila Fuller, Renita Abernathy, and Teresa Harris; and a host of beloved and cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. We recognize Rachel Cane, his step-mother, Tina Cane, and Marian Cane, who were like sisters.
