PATRICIA ANN (HOHBACH) BRITT
Patricia Ann (Hohbach) Britt 67, passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2023, at her residence in Cherokee, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
On February 2, 1956, Patricia was born to Elmer Hohbach and Verna (Grothe) Hohbach in LeMars, IA. Patricia was the oldest of the three children born to the couple. Patricia spent most of her adolescence between Long Beach, California and LeMars, IA. She went to Catholic school for her education.
On August 16, 1975, Gerald Vernon Britt and Patricia Ann Hohbach were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Neptune, IA.
Patricia was a strong Catholic at heart and brought many people to Christ such as her granddaughter Alyssa Thatcher. Patricia never lied to anyone throughout her 67 years on this Earth. She was a very sweet woman which made making friends easy for her, she never struggled to make it to someone’s heart.
Patricia spent 30 years as a nurse for several nursing homes in Cherokee, the MHI, and lastly the Marian (Mercy) Health Center in Sioux City. Patricia was very proud of being a nurse, she lived her life to help others whether it was her patients or her family. Patricia and her husband enjoyed camping and going on aimless drives with no definite destinations. Patricia also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crocheting with her beloved niece Monica Brodersen. After early retirement, Patricia became a caregiver for her husband as his health declined. Patricia was also allowed to become a full-time grandma, great-grandma, and caregiver to her family. Patricia enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren sometimes a little too much.
Patricia will be greatly missed by her daughter Susie and her husband Eric Bush and their children; Brittany, Alyssa, and Rylea of Cherokee, IA; her son Jeremy and his wife Monica Britt and their children; Noah and Eliana of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Patricia also will be missed by her two great grandchildren; Sawyer and Ava; her aunt Jean McDonald and her husband Harry; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Gerald; her sister-in-law and best friend Carla Nelson; her beloved Aunt Joyce Schemmel; her parents Elmer and Verna; and her great granddaughter, Sage.
