Patricia Dowling

Patricia Ann Dowling, 77, of Hollister, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka.
Patrica was born and raised in Jacksonville, where after high school She worked for a time as a bookkeeper for Southern Bell and was actively involved in Westbrook Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
After relocating to Putnam County, she lived in Hollister for the past 53 years where she was a devoted homemaker and stay-at-home mom. An avid reader, she was especially fond of novels by Louis Lamour, Nora Roberts, and Dean Kuntz. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flower gardening, cooking (known far and wide for her delicious carrot cake), and-no wilting wallflower-riding motorcycles with her late husband and dirt track racing, including taking to the track herself as a "powderpuff racer!" Known to all as a kind and sweet woman, she was an occasional babysitter and ended up with a lot of kids who called her "mom."
Apart from her full and busy working and family life, Patricia's deepest passion was her church life. A longtime member of Hollister Baptist Church, Patricia served as the church's pianist and organist, sang in the choir and was a soloist, and as church school secretary. Music and her love for her Lord was in her soul.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elise Dowling; her husband, Robert Dowling; a brother, Raymond Dowling; and a son Jason Dowling.
Surviving are three sons, Robbie Gene Dowling (Mandy), Jason Lee Dowling, Jr. (Carlie), and Dean Dowling (Carolyn); three daughters, Tricia Lynn Scroggins (Troy), Debbie Dowling, and Dawn Dowling; a sister Lori Ann Johnson (David); a cousin, Evon Diamond; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Hollister Baptist Church in Hollister with Pastor Larry Litzell officiating. Interment will follow in Hollister Sweetwater Cemetery. Friends may call at the church after 2 p.m.-an hour before the start of the service.
