Patricia A. Schmitz Obituary
It is with heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our dear beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Patricia Anne Schmitz (nee Berken), on January 25, 2026, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend. She was born on June 1, 1944, to Eugene and Laura (nee Larsen) Berken in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She grew up in Oconto Falls, WI.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Norman Schmitz; daughter, Anne (Chris) Hartzell; grandson, Andrew Hartzell, who was the absolute delight of her life; her brother, Tom (Trish) Berken; nephew, Jerry Berken; and stepson, Brian (Karin) Schmitz. Her Step-grandchildren: Shawn, Tyler and Tony Schmitz, and other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and many other beloved aunts, uncles, and other family.
A private funeral with the family will be held per Patricia’s request.
A special thank you to Kathy Hospice for her wonderful care in the end and to Fresenius Dialysis Center West Bend in West Bend for the care they gave to mom for the past 8 years. And the biggest of thank you's to their caregiver over this past year: Alicia Gutknecht. My mom always called Alicia "their ray of sunshine", and she truly was that for them when she was at the house.
