Patricia Bays Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Feb. 10, 2023.
Patricia (Tricia) Ann Bays, 73, of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long brave fight with health complications.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday February 18th, 2023, at 2 pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 N. Main Street, Summerville SC with Chaplain Jeff DeGrow officiating.
Patricia was born November 7th, 1949, in Gassaway, West Virginia to the late Harold Eugene and Josephine Constance (Novack) Murphy, both army veterans of WWII, and later moved a few towns over to Belle, West Virginia where she spent most of her early years before marriage.
Patricia was a loving and caring wife and mother who never met a stranger. For most of her life she was a homemaker, but also was a banker and did some real estate as well. Her musical tastes ranged from Willie Nelson, The Chi-Lites, Cher, Elvis, the Beatles and some new age artists as well. In her younger days she would love to tap dance and always loved to dance whenever she could. She was the life of every party. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and demonstrated that through her signature cooking of dishes like Goulash and Cabbage Rolls. She was a collector of polish pottery, tea pots and many items from QVC and Home Shopping Network. She loved going to craft fairs and to the Amish stores for the latest furniture pieces and rare one-of-a-kind crafted items. Family was very important to her, and her home is filled with countless family photos as well as artwork from her mother and of Charleston heritage.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harry James Bays of Summerville, SC; son and daughter-in-law James Eugene and Holly Bays of Cleveland, GA, daughter and son-in-law Toschua Ann and William Thomas of Goose Creek, SC; brother and sister-in law, Michael and Robin Murphy, sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria Thorne, Mary and Danny Kimble, Constance (Connie) and Thomas Hudson; grandchildren, Shaena Bays, James Bays, Maddison and Brandon Phimmasane, Genesis Cochran, and Madison Bays, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made in Patricia's name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
