Visitation will be on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care's Chapel from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Immediately following visitation, her Homegoing Celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Moses Ward officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Patricia was born in Wichita, Kansas at McConnell Airforce Base on January 30, 1965, to James and Inez (Powers) Brown Jr. She grew up in Kansas, London, England, and eventually settled in Des Moines where she graduated from Tech High School in 1983. She married Marvin McCuller in 1995. Patricia remained in Des Moines until 1997 when she relocated to Michigan. She worked as a bus driver and went to Kalamazoo Valley Community College where Patricia earned her associate’s degree. In 2018, she returned to Des Moines and started working at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women.
Patricia didn’t attend church much; however, her beliefs were in the Pentecostal faith. Being a good wife, mom, grandma, and sister meant everything to her. She was the definition of a strong black woman. A proud, no-nonsense woman who watered you with tough love and wisdom. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. She was a woman who always knew what she wanted; if she didn’t have her daily coffee made fresh, with the precise amount of cream that she wanted, everyone was going to hear about it. Whoever stepped foot in her house had to be clean to her standards. She enjoyed being a home body, caring for her plants, shopping for grandchildren. Under Armor and Nike sweat suits were her thing. Pat always made sure that she tasked you with starting her car in the morning when it was too cold for her.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband Marvin McCuller; children Porsche Brown, Santino (Megan) Winfrey, Demario (Alexandria) Hawkins, Marvin (Maria) Mcculler Jr., Brittany McCuller; grandchildren Tiara, Rico, Cameron, Caden, Keanna, Kobe, Michael, Talia, Aria, Aleah, Amaree, Oren, Byron, and Micah; siblings Brenda (Colin) Brown, Kimberley (Russell) Cheatem; mother-in-law Loretta McCuller; brothers and sisters-in-laws Fred (Linda) McCuller, Brenda McCuller, San (Cardel) James, Vickie McCuller, and Carmella (Forest) Oakley; nieces and nephews Secku and Sedar Brown, Sherah, Lloyd, Vernon, and Martha Cheatem; uncle Eugene Brown; and a host of cousins and friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.
Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with Patricia and her family’s care.
