Patricia Overstreet Burks, 84, of Durham, NC passed away on July 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family and pet. Mrs. Burks was born on November 29, 1940, in Forest, Virginia to the late William Graham Overstreet, Sr. and Lillian Cofer Overstreet.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burks is preceded in death by brothers, William Graham Overstreet, Jr., Edward Overstreet and Calvin Overstreet; sister, Christine Mitchell; special family friends, Norman and Emma Tadlock
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leslie Wayne Burks; daughters, Virginia Charlynn Burks (David Fletcher) of Durham, Leslie Burks Thomas (Jimmie) of Florence, SC, Brenda Tadlock Wilson (James); grandchildren, Daniel McNair (Codi), Samantha Gothard (Goose), Samuel Fyle III (Ashley Klingelheber), Haley Thomas (Phillip Frye); great grandchildren, Cameron McNair, Avery McNair, Peyton Gothard and Palmer Gothard; faithful pet companion, Daisy.
Patricia dearly loved God and her family. She was a devoted Christian and faithful prayer warrior, known for her patience, kindness, and gentle spirit—never speaking a harsh word about anyone. Patricia had a wonderful sense of humor and could easily laugh at herself. An animal lover and avid flower gardener, she also taught herself to play the piano and found great joy in music.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 3, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Reverend Tom Cross.
Donations can be made in Patricia’s memory to the American Humane Society.
