Patricia "Patti" Jo Lee Butler, 72, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Born October 15, 1953, in Conway, South Carolina, Patti was the daughter of the late Joe Dusenbury Lee and Thelma Dunn Lee. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Kathryn Bryn Layne and her husband Doug Layne of Mebane, North Carolina, Carole-Lee Butler and her fiancé Myles Cooper of Sydney, Australia; and her sister, Debbie K. Lee of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Patti dedicated 30 years of her life to education as an elementary school teacher with the Horry County School District. She had a special passion for helping children learn to read and spent countless hours tutoring students, always offering patience, encouragement, and individualized support to help them succeed. Even after retirement, her love of teaching continued at Horry Georgetown Technical College.

While Patti made a lasting and meaningful impact through her work in education, it was her role as a mother that defined her most. She found her greatest happiness in time spent with her daughters and took immense pride in the women they became. Her love, guidance, and unwavering support were the foundation of her life and will remain her most enduring legacy.

To all who knew her, Patti will be remembered for her warmth, strength, kindness, and selfless devotion to those she loved. Having lived a life filled with purpose, love, and adventure, she now rests peacefully, her heart fulfilled, and embraced by love ever lasting.

A visitation will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Conway Chapel onThursday, April 2, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The family will have a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to United Way, 761 Century Circle, Conway, SC 29256, an organization that reflects Patti's lifelong passion for supporting others.
