Patricia Ann Comparin
IRONWOOD, Mich. - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Patricia Ann Comparin, 79, of Ironwood, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025. She passed away in the comfort and dignity of her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with dementia.
Patricia was born on May 11, 1946, in Ironwood, to Virgil and Elsie Massi. She had four brothers. Her mother passed away at a young age, and she gained a stepmother, Eva Massi, and had two additional sisters and a brother. Patricia graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, and completed college courses. She worked at various law firms and concluded her working career at the Gogebic County Probate Court until she retired.
On Sept. 25, 1965, Patricia was united in marriage to Anthony Comparin at Christ the King Catholic Church in Ramsay. They were blessed with a son, Michael, and a daughter, Tina, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Her greatest joys were spending time with her family as she learned from a young age the importance of family. Patricia was a loving wife and wonderful mother. She cared deeply for her family and would help her extended family without question.
Patricia was an avid bowler for many years and developed many close friendships along the way that she continued to have until her death. She was also a golfer after retiring and made many friends.
Patricia had a loving, kind heart and infectious smile and laugh. She was always willing to go anywhere and do anything at any time with her family and went on many adventures in her life especially with her daughter.
Patricia will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Anthony; son, Michael; and daughter, Tina. She is also survived by three grandchildren; a brother, Ronald; a sister, Jody (Dan) Jurakovich; a brother, William (Terri) Wirtanen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Elsie Massi; her stepmother, Eva; three brothers, Rudolph (Rosie), Richard and infant brother, Robert; a sister, Jacqueline Hoglund; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
Even though Patricia struggled with dementia, she knew she was well loved by her family and friends. When we got her big, beautiful smile and laugh over the past few years, it would melt your heart. Dementia did not take away her ability to love, and she continued to show her family this on a daily basis.
Mom, the next time that I meet you will be at Heaven's door. You will be there to meet me and I will cry no more. I will put my arms around you and kiss your lovely face and then this broken heart of mine will fall back into place. Love Always.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Oct. 10, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., in the St. Joseph Family Room at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 108 S. Marquette St., in Ironwood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Brian C. Gerber, celebrant.
Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
Luncheon will be served in the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.
