Patricia "Patti" Criel

Patricia "Patti" Criel, 80, of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024. She was born on July 15, 1943 in Chicago to the late John and Marion Burrows.
Patti had an unwavering passion for horses, particularly her beloved Paso Fino horses, which held a special place in her heart. As an avid equestrian, Patti spent countless hours in the saddle, exploring the beauty of nature on horseback. Trail riding was not just a hobby for her; it was a way of life. The serene trails winding through the countryside were her sanctuary, where she felt most at peace. Her love for horses extended beyond her personal enjoyment; she was a staunch advocate for their welfare and well-being, dedicating herself to their care and protection.
Patti was an active member of the Barrington Riding Club, where she found camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts who shared her passion for all things equestrian.
Apart from her devotion to horses, Patti had another great love in her life – her golden retrievers, Mick and Finn. These fur babies were her constant companions, offering unconditional love and companionship throughout the years. Their wagging tails and gentle nature brought immense joy to Patti's life, and she treasured every moment spent in their company.
Patti attended Schurz High School in Chicago; it was there she met her high school sweetheart, George. On August 27, 1966 they were united in marriage in Chicago; together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Patti and George were blessed with two daughters and further blessed with three grandchildren.
In 2014, she joined the Lake Zurich American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 964, alongside her husband, where they volunteered their time and energy to various integral parts of the organization.
Patti leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to the things that brought her joy. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to live on in the gentle rustle of leaves, the soft whinny of horses, and the boundless love of her beloved golden retrievers.
In addition to her devoted husband, Patti is survived by her daughters, Kelli (Michael Hudson) Criel and Patti (Butch) Hudson; grandchildren, Brooke Rendl, Jessica and Nicholas Lange; siblings, Jerome (Janet) Burrows, niece Debbie (Brian) Halloran; nephew, James Burrows and her beloved furry companions, Mick and Finn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 2:30 PM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will be private.
