Patricia Fankell, 92, of Grayson, KY, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. She was born March 22, 1932, in Grayson, the daughter of the late Ray and Katherine Hall Buck. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Fredrick Buck, and a grandson, Johnny Fankell.
She was a member of the Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Pat was one of the founding members of the very first homemaker club in our area, the Gregoryville Homemakers Club, where she had been a member for over seventy-five years. She was a member of the Happy Stitchers Quilting Club and the University of Kentucky Extension Council for many years. Pat was an accomplished cook, sharing many delicious recipes, especially her blackberry cake.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood Fankell; a son, Tom (Rachel) Fankell of Grayson; two daughters, Cathy Fankell of Lexington, KY and Glenna (Jay Paul) Wylie of Ashland, KY; two brothers, Clifford (Janet) Buck, and James Buck both of Grayson, KY; a sister, Karen Carpenter of Grayson, KY; three grandchildren, Tommy Fankell, Katie Beth (Michael) Bias and Chris (Molly) Wylie; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Emily Bias.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Sparks Funeral Home, Steve Owens, minister. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Friday until the service at the funeral home.
