PATRICIA JEAN GESSNER
Patricia Jean Gessner, affectionately known as Patty, graced this world with her presence on August 4, 1927, in the picturesque town of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. A life filled with dedication and warmth came to a serene conclusion on August 7, 2025, as she passed away peacefully in her sleep in the enchanting landscapes of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Patty's journey began with a commitment to education, culminating in her graduation from a secretarial school in Chicago, which adeptly prepared her for a rewarding career as a receptionist for the New Mexico Game and Fish. Her professional endeavors reflected her diligent spirit and profound sense of responsibility, traits that endeared her to colleagues and patrons alike.
Beyond her professional achievements, Patty was a beacon of joy and camaraderie on the golf course, where her passion flourished. She not only found solace among the greens but also garnered numerous local golfing awards, a testament to her skill and dedication to the sport. Her laughter could often be heard ringing through the fairways, a sound synonymous with her vibrant personality.
Patty's legacy is enriched by her family and cherished friends. She is survived by three nephews and a niece, who will carry forward the essence of her spirit in their hearts. Additionally, her long-time dear friend, Mac, alongside caregivers Barbara and Doug who have shown unwavering support and companionship throughout the seasons of her life.
Proceeding her in death are her beloved husband George Gessner, her loving parents, Frederick and Anna May Matheson, and her brothers, Ray and James Matheson, who now embrace her in eternal tranquility.
In her passing, Patricia Jean Gessner leaves behind a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Her journey may have concluded, yet her spirit will forever resonate within the cherished lives she touched throughout her remarkable existence.
Patty has been cremated and inurned in Iowa next to her husband George.
