Patricia Gibble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. - York on Jan. 21, 2026.
Patricia Ann Gibble passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, at the age of 87, reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Lawrence W. Gibble.

Born October 28, 1938, at York Hospital, Pat was the daughter of the late Stanley W. Martin, Sr. and Nellie (Redmond) Martin. A proud West York Bulldog, she was deeply involved in school life-student government, yearbook, cheerleading, glee club, and band-small in stature but abundant in energy and spirit.

Pat devoted much of her early adult life to her family, faithfully supporting her three children through lessons, school activities, and countless sporting events. Music held a special place in her heart; her family includes generations of instrumentalists and singers, and Pat and Larry attended nearly every concert they could.

Her faith was a steady presence throughout her life. Pat was a longtime member of First Church of the Brethren in York, where she sang in the choir, supported children's ministries and Vacation Bible School, served on the Child Development Center board, and participated in a church book club in later years.

Pat had a lifelong love of reading and learning. She was rarely without multiple books in progress and delighted in word games fueled by her love of language. Though family responsibilities delayed her dream of higher education, she eventually fulfilled it-earning a BS in Nursing at age 53. She spent nine years working at York Hospital with mothers and babies before retiring to travel with Larry and care for her granddaughter.

Pat is survived by her children Julie Poland, David Gibble (Melissa), and Jay Gibble (Lisa); six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, whom she was overjoyed to meet. She remained close with her former son-in-law, James Poland, whose support meant much to her. She is also survived by many siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews on both the Martin and Gibble sides of the family. She was preceded in death by several beloved siblings.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers from Visiting Angels, Autumn House East, and Gentiva Hospice.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Rd., York, PA 17402.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Brethren or a charity of one's choice.
