Joanne Gibble

Joanne J. Gibble, 74, of Spring Twp. passed away on November 2, 2024, at Reading Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was the loving wife of Douglas R. Gibble. They were married on April 26, 1975.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Horvath) Jabornik.
Joanne was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1968, Kutztown University earning her degree in Elementary Education in 1972 and later graduating with her MED.
She was a second grade teacher at St. Simon and Jude Parochial School, Bethlehem from 1973-1979. After caring for her three children during their early years, Joanne returned to the classroom at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata from 1989 to 1992. Soon after stepping down from teaching, Joanne bought her first Auntie Anne's Pretzel Shop on Penn Street, Reading. She went on to own Auntie Anne's Shops at the Fairgrounds, Vanity Fair, and the Shillington Farmers Market. Her retirement job included walking and caring for dogs on a daily basis.
A faith filled person, Joanne was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Reading. She was a sports enthusiast, playing basketball in high school. Joanne went on to coach basketball and volleyball at St. Simon and Jude School. She enjoyed golf, bowling, dogs, the beach, swimming and travel. Joanne loved people and had a very active social life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She and Doug had three children: James D. Gibble who passed away on August 8, 2020; Corinne M. Gibble, PhD. and her husband Aaron Lopez, Santa Cruz, CA; and Sarah E. Gibble-Laska and her husband Ryan Laska-Gibble, Marlboro, NY; and her granddaughter, Talulah J. Laska-Gibble. Her brother Frank P., husband of Susan (Staub) Jabornik, Kempton, and their daughter, Heather Elkins wife of Keil Elkins of Long Beach. CA, also survive her.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m.at St. Ignatius Loyola RCC, 2600 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19608. The viewing will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius. Burial will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown. An additional celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue, All 4 Paws Rescue, or Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Edward J.
