Patricia A. "Pat" Gorney

Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025. Age 91 years. Daughter of the late Clarence N. and Anna M. (Chalenko) Girard, Patricia was born June 20, 1934, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a 1953 graduate of Holy Family High School. She married the late John C. Gorney, her loving husband of 70 years, on November 8, 1952. Pat was a loving wife and homemaker. She occasionally took on part-time jobs to earn "fun money." She and John enjoyed traveling, especially aboard cruise ships and trips to casinos. Interests included bowling, gardening, bird watching, and current and classic films. Patricia and John and their big grey Australian Shepherd walked three miles, three times a week for many years. To keep her mind sharp, she worked crossword and word-search puzzles and watched game shows daily. She stayed current on news and sports and enjoyed cheering on the Lions, as well as her favorite teams in the NCAA basketball tournament. She and John loved and cared for many pets over their years together. She gave cheerfully to many charities and sought to assist those in need within her community. Her thoughtfulness and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving her are one son and one daughter, Paul (Paula) Gorney, and Luann M. Jannarone (Michael Snodgrass); five grandchildren, Eric D. (Jen) Gorney, Aaron T. Gorney, Emily A. Nipper, Alexander J. Deal, Paul (Annarae) Deal; five great-grandchildren, Jace and Bryce Gorney, LoraLei Deal, Ethan Nipper, Oliver and Athena Deal. Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter, Elaine S. (Ray) Deal; and her son, Mark T. Gorney. A special thanks to her helping neighbors, Henry and Lorain Martin, Chuck and Bonnie Braley, Al Braley, Dan and Pat, and Ashleigh and Pam.

Honoring Mrs. Gorney's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Saginaw City Rescue Mission, Saginaw County Humane Society or the charity of their choice.
