Patricia Anne Kearney

August 15, 1944 – March 1, 2026

Patricia Anne Kearney, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and deep love for her family.

Born on August 15, 1944, Patricia dedicated her life to helping others. She earned her Master's degree from University of Detroit Mercy and went on to serve her community as a devoted social worker. Throughout her career, she worked tirelessly with individuals facing addictions, mental health challenges, and domestic violence, offering guidance, advocacy, and unwavering support. Helping people through life's most difficult moments was not just her profession, but her calling.

Patricia loved spending time at the casino, being near the water, and enjoying the outdoors. She often claimed to be a wonderful singer and had a deep love for music. She never missed a chance to enjoy a good meal, especially at her favorite restaurant, Mama Mia's. Shopping for others brought her great happiness, and she was always ready with a thoughtful gift for family or friends. Her generosity was one of her most defining traits.

Above all, Patricia cherished her family. She is survived by her loving children, Shawn (Bridgette) Kearney and Robin (Wil Laneski) Nolan. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Shane (Jennifer) Nolan, Autumn (Ethan Oldfield) Kearney, and Ella (Joseph Menser) Kearney, and a delighted great-grandmother to Murphy Menser. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to support, encourage, and celebrate them.

Patricia is also survived by her siblings Gary Swarga, Sandy Kostere, and Russ Doyle, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She shared a special lifelong friendship with her dear friend Sandy Vargo, whose companionship meant so much to her over the years.

Patricia will be remembered for her warm heart, her spirited personality, her love of family, and her unwavering desire to help others.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6th held at Charles Step Funeral Home located at 18425 Beech Daly Rd, Redford, MI 48240.
