Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - TopekaPatricia Adelaid Hogg Leonard, (93), of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 14th, 2025.
Patricia, was born to Shirley and Esther Hogg, on February 29th, 1932, in Hersey Nebraska. She married Richard Thomas Leonard on September 8th, 1956 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Together, they shared 27 years of marriage.
Patricia went on to attend Emmanuel Hospital in Portland Oregon to acquire her LPN Degree then pursing a Bachelors Degree in nursing at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington. Later earning a Masters Degree from Kansas State University. Patricia served in the Air Force as a Military Nurse; stationed in Portland Oregon, Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka and finally Japan.
Patricia worked as nurse in Tokyo Japan, Honolulu Hawaii and Memorial Hospital in Topeka. Patricia became a teacher of the Certified Nurse Program at Kaw Area Vocational Technical School in Topeka where she retired as the Director of Nursing.
Patricia found joy in traveling, was an avid reader, and loved to study history of the Lutheran Church. She also liked collecting pigs, sewing, knitting, loved dogs and in her down time, you could find Patricia tending to her flower garden and indoor plants.
Survivors include daughter Suzanne Wilcox of North Kingston, Rhode Island, daughter Patricia Hefner (Gary) of South Carolina, son Richard Wayne Leonard (Debbie) and daughter Chris Rangel (Joey) both of Topeka. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her spouse Richard T Leonard, parents, Shirley and Ester and brothers Bill and Wayne Hogg. Memorial services will be Friday November 7th at 10:30 am, at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Road. Burial will take place at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a date to be determined.
