Patricia Helen McKinney, affectionately known to many as Patsy, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and generosity. Born on November 22, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, Delaware, Patsy was a beacon of light in her community and will be remembered for her unwavering spirit and kind heart.
Patsy's early years were defined by her role as a devoted navy wife in Texas, a testament to her supportive and adaptable nature. After moving to Delaware, she transitioned into the workforce with the same dedication, contributing significantly to various warehouses before taking on the role of a park manager. Her work ethic and ability to connect with people from all walks of life made her a respected figure both professionally and personally.
Throughout her life, Patsy's passions were as diverse as they were vibrant. She found joy in the melodies of country music and the simple pleasure of watching her favorite television shows, such as Wheel of Fortune and funny videos. A dedicated sports fan, Patsy never missed a Phillies or Eagles game, cheering on her teams with the same enthusiasm she brought to every aspect of her life. Perhaps her greatest delight was found in the time she spent playing with her grandchildren, a clear reflection of her loving nature.
Patsy's family was her pride and joy. Preceded in death by her husband William Lewis McKinney, she is survived by her daughter, Dawn L. Goddard, and son-in-law, John M. August. Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Amber, Brittany, and Michael McKinney of Clayton, Delaware, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Thelionus McKinney, Victor Harris, and Jayme Lynn Rigby. Patsy was a cherished sister to Edith M. Sparks of Camden, Delaware, and Thelma Stanton of Alabama. She came from a remarkable family of 19 children, with 12 sisters and seven brothers, each holding a special place in her heart.
Those who knew Patsy will remember her as a wise woman whose advice was sought after and cherished. Her generous spirit touched the lives of many, as she always extended a helping hand to those in need. Patsy McKinney's memory will be forever etched in the hearts of her loved ones and the community that she so lovingly served.
As we bid farewell to Patsy, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with moments of joy, laughter, and an abundance of love. Her influence will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her stories will be passed down through generations. Patricia Helen McKinney's journey on this earth may have concluded, but her spirit remains an indelible part of the fabric of her family and the community of
