In Loving Memory of Patricia Hollingsworth Mitchell
March 4, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Patricia “Pat” Hollingsworth Mitchell, age 78, of St. Pauls, NC who departed this world peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2025 at her residence. She was surrounded by love and was finally reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, William “Bill” Mitchell. She was born in Parkton, NC on December 8, 1946, to the late Nash Hollingsworth and Amanda Huggins Stokes.
Pat is survived by her three children, Sherry Register Murray, Becky Register Winstead (Bill), and Dale Ballance of Elizabeth City, NC; five grandchildren, Morgan and Spencer Murray, Aaron, Brittany, and Shelby Jones; one great grandchild, Leah Jones; three siblings, Janice Thompson (David), Judy Stokes, and Nola Culpeper (Gene). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and eight siblings, Mary Ward, Dolores Mead, Jean Patane, James Hollingsworth, Donnie Stokes, Eddie Hollingsworth, Tommy Stokes, and Dennis Stokes.
Pat had a special gift for cooking. She spent years of her life bringing joy to others through baking, cake decorating, and preparing meals for those she loved.
Some of Pat’s “Memaw’s” favorite memories included those with her beloved grandchildren. She took pride in watching them grow up and always made time for them, whether it was taking cross country trips out west, teaching them to bake, or offering words of encouragement. She treasured each moment with them, and they will forever carry the memories of her love, wisdom, and support.
In lieu of a formal service, the family asks that you take a moment to reflect on Pat’s life and the impact she made on those around her. The family deeply appreciates your love and support during this time of loss.
