Patricia Margaret Morse, affectionately known as Patty to her family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 6, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on September 26, 1943, in Great Bend, Kansas, Patty's journey through life was marked by her welcoming smile, boundless creativity, and a loving heart that touched everyone she met.
Patty's early life in Larned, Kansas laid a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. She pursued her education at both Baker University and Kansas State University. Throughout her career, Patty's work ethic and dedication shone brightly. She made significant contributions to USD 321, the State of Kansas, Silver Lake Bank, and White Star. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to a successful career as a realtor and later as the owner of Treasure Beads, a business where she taught classes and shared her passion for jewelry making.
Patty was a life-long crafter with talents spanning sewing, beading, jewelry making, rubber stamping, and quilting. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy and peace in the act of creating beautiful things. She was also an avid reader and movie-goer, always ready to explore new stories or adventures while camping or traveling.
Patty is survived by her husband, Lester Morse; her son, Keith Berkey (Kim); her daughter, Angela Shriner (Kevin); her grandchildren, Kalli Palomo (Jav) and Kohen Shriner (Lilly); her great-grandson, Leo Palomo; her brother, Mark Gilbert (Cindy), and sister, Shelly Blosser (Ted). Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Lillian Gilbert, and her former husbands, Curt Berkey and Doyle Yockers.
A private service will be held to honor Patty's life. Though the service is private, the family encourages those who were touched by her life to celebrate her memory in their own special way.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Patty's memory to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or online at midlandcare.org.
