John Westley Morse Sr., age 72, of Jonesville, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was born on March 10, 1954, at The Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Etta Mae (McNew) Morse.

John served his country as an Expert Sharpshooter and Chef in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He was a talented carpenter who most recently was employed with Rite Choice Contractors in Jerome. John was a musical entertainer, comedian, and bringer of joy to countless people. He loved his kids, and he loved Jesus. John also enjoyed playing music, watching his favorite shows including The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke, and Everybody Loves Raymond, and enjoying a cold Pepsi or chocolate milk. He loved chocolate ice cream.

Survivors include seven children, Travis (Trisha) Morse of Tennessee, John Westley Morse Jr. of Tennessee, Billy Morse of Oklahoma, Mary (Michael) Carter of Texas, Levi (Ky) Morse of Jonesville, Adam Morse of Tennessee, and Kyle Morse of Jonesville; twenty-two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four siblings, Louis (Kay) Morse, Eva Woodham, Debbie Carpenter, and Toni (Jerry) Carpenter; and one brother-in-law, Roy Turner; his former wife, Connie McCormick, mother of Travis and John; his former wife Shelley Keith, mother of Levi, Adam and Kyle; his former wife Tiffany Klinger.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one grandson, Hunter Garrett; and six siblings, Ruth Magda, LeRoy Morse, Ernie Morse, Raymond Morse, Lorane Bruner, and Linda Turner; and his former wife, Leanne Davis, mother of Billy and Mary.

A private celebration of life for John Morse will be held at a later date at the family property John cherished. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County.
