Rovelle D. Doty

Rovelle D. "John" Doty, age 85, of Litchfield, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Lynwood Manor in Adrian, Michigan. He was born on August 9, 1940, in Hillsdale, to Rovelle and Marjorie (Moore) Doty. John married Bertha Myrice on June 13, 1987, and she survives.

John graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1957, and he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1965. He worked for many years driving truck, as well as owning the Pinecrest Motel in Jonesville and the Sand Lake Party Store in Hillsdale. John played an active role in the Reading American Legion, as well as being member of the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons. In his free time, he enjoyed playing card and bingo, and taking trips to the casino.

In addition to his wife, Bertha Doty, he is survived by two sons, Mike (Ginger) Doty of Lansing, and Eric (Sherry) Doty of Detroit; stepson, Leroy Ramey of Hillsdale; stepdaughter, Lisa (Ron) Cummins of Reading; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Kevin Doty.

A graveside service for John Doty will take place at a later date at Sand Lake Valley Cemetery in Hillsdale. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospital or St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
