In Loving Memory
Of Patricia Laverne Dietal Nichols
Patricia Laverne Dietel Nichols was born on August 28, 1936 in
Santa Fe, New Mexico to Clarence and Ora Dietel. Pat had two brothers, Ronnie Dietel and Fred Dietel and one sister, Sharon Perry. Growing up and being the eldest, she was a mother figure from the beginning and was instrumental in raising her siblings. She graduated high school and at the age of 18, she met and married the love of her life, Phil Nichols. In their 25 years of marriage, they raised their four children and started and ran their tire business in Thompson Falls, Montana. She loved to dance and it was said on many occasions, Phil and Pat "could clear the dance floor" in amazement with their beautiful in sync dancing. After leaving the south, she lived mostly in the Northwest and settled in
Chewelah, Washington in 2017 with her youngest son, Troy until her passing.
She loved God and her family. She had quite a green thumb, shew loved gardening and she loved her flowers. We all said that she could make a fence post grow. She was an expert seamstress making wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and even Miss Oregon's gown as well as whipping up clothes for her family. She enjoyed her sewing, quilting, and crafting projects. She was excellent at turning a house into a home and that is exactly what she did-always full of love. There was nothing she wouldn't tackle-sewing, canning, woodworking painting, etc., but her greatest gifts were her sense of humor, always caring attitude, her perseverance to finish what she started but best of all her deep committed love to God, family, and friends.
Pat loved taking road trips and going on traveling adventures, hiking, and exploring new waterfalls. She called it "chasing waterfalls" and usually always included bringing home a trunk full of "pretty rocks", and she never wasted any time getting from one place to another (if you know what we mean).
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ora Dietel, and her brother, Ronnie Dietel.
Pat is survived by her sister, Sharon Perry, her brother, Fred Dietel (Betty and her four children, Michael H Nichols, Dacia Rasmuson (Ron), Kim Simmons (John), Troy S. Nichols, seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
You will be loved and missed dearly, until we are together again at the gates of heaven, rest in peace in Jesus' arms.
Pat will be laid to rest at the pioneer cemetery in
Chewelah, Washington. Services are pending for Spring of 2026.
Her legacy of love lives on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.
