Patricia “Pat” Jean Hasenkamp, 89, of Holton, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Credo Senior Living & Memory Care in Seneca, Kansas. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Pat was born on June 10, 1936 in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Herman and Alvina (Lierz) Suther. She graduated from Wetmore High School in 1954. Pat married Donald “Don” Louis Hasenkamp on September 8, 1956 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, Kansas. They were blessed to celebrate 69 years of marriage.
During their life, they raised three daughters on a farm outside of Circleville, Kansas. Pat loved living in the country and the rolling hills that surrounded the farm. The years on the farm were shared with great friends, weekends were spent playing cards, frying chicken and making homemade ice cream. She spent many years painting the interiors and exteriors of homes, as well as wallpapering. She believed you could make any home beautiful with a little paint and a good cleaning. After hanging up her paintbrushes, Pat started quilting. She was truly an artist, being able to envision the colors in the quilt whether it was piecing material together, cross stitching, or appliqueing. She made over 150 quilts for family and friends, as well as donating several to churches for auction. Every quilt made and given away were created with love and joy! Each one was special and unique.
She is survived by her husband, Don of the home; daughters, Sherri Bugner (Dean) of Greenville, South Carolina, JoAnn “Jo” (Mark) of Holton, Kansas and Sheila (Michael) of Wetmore, Kansas; grandchildren, Kyli Brane (Brian), Major Britton Hufford (Emily), Devon Pless (Josh) and Parker Hasenkamp (Meghan); great-grandchildren, Sydnee, Adelynn, Harper, Hayden and a great-granddaughter due in May; step-grandchildren, Jessica Keehn, Kaleb Keehn (Kate), Alyssa Keehn and Chloe Keehn; a step-granddaughter Paisley; and a sister, Anna Mae Stotler (Larry) of Springfield, Missouri.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Alvina Suther; brothers, Melvin “Butch”, Cletus and Elmer Suther, and a sister Rosie Honeyman.
