Patricia “Patty” Ann (Hood) Haggerty, age 66, of Mechanicsburg died on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Patty was born on Wednesday, August 28, 1957, in Dearborn, MI to the late L.M. “Mike” Hood and Helen (Kovacs) Hood. In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her two brothers: Donald Hood and Mike Hood.
Patty’s survivors include her husband of 28 years, Ryan Deforest Haggerty; her two children: Nicole Kovacs Hood and her husband, Zack, of Alpharetta, GA, and Mason Haggerty of Mechanicsburg; her three step children: Kristy (Melvin) Rehbein and her husband, Michael, of Southgate, MI, Brian Melvin II of Wyandotte, MI, Richard Melvin of Wyanotte, MI; her 12 grandchildren: Willow Hood, Katelyn Veiga, Lauren Pangracz, Natalie Bolling-Seal, Eli Melvin, Milo Melvin, Phoenix Melvin, Alexis Melvin, Isabella Melvin, Iris Hood, Eden Hood, Grace Hood; her two great-grandchildren: Gabriel Veiga and Lucas Veiga; her three siblings: Laura Marie Goyette and her husband, Gary, of Cumming, GA, Charles Hood and his wife, Lola, of Oakland, TN, Ronald Hood and his wife, Peggy. She is also survived by her nephew: Gordon Goyette, of Cumming, GA; her close, loving cousins; and Patty’s “little girl”, Sybil Armstrong of Carlisle.
Patty graduated from Dearborn Heights High School as part of the class of 1975. She retired from Skills of Central Pennsylvania in 2019, after many years of service working as a Caregiver. Patty attended St. Stephens Lutheran Church in New Kingston, and volunteered with various organizations within the church. She was a member of the Lions Club in Mt. Holly. Patty liked to stay active by playing tennis and swimming. She was a music aficionado and enjoyed going to concerts, especially for her favorite: jazz music. Patty was fond of going out with friends to eat lunch or visit wineries. She loved going “around the world” when she would eat different culture’s cuisines at new restaurants. Despite being a private person, she was a member of the “Hug Group” at church where she would go visit shut-ins. Patty made sure to always make time for family, and loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Willow. She will be dearly missed by those that were fortunate enough to have known her.
All are welcome to join Patty’s family at her viewing on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:15 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Patty’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Cremation will be private.
