Patricia Patwell Obituary

Patwell, Patricia
EAST GREENBUSH - Patricia "Patti" Patwell (1967-2025), much loved Mother, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, and Friend, passed peacefully on October 16, 2025, surrounded by family, after a nine-year battle with breast cancer.
Born to Dick and Bunny DiFalco, the youngest of seven siblings, Patti, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Fordham University ('89) and Brooklyn Law School ('94). She married the love of her life, John Patwell, in 1995, and they welcomed their three beautiful children, Mary Rose, Jack, and Annie. Her family continues to remain the pride and joy of her life. She served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County, and retired as a Senior Administrative Law Judge from The Office of The New York State Comptroller.
Outside of her work for New York State, Patti found joy in Bruce Springsteen's music, long days at the lake surrounded by family, outings with the friends she made along the way, and her sweet dogs, Ellie and Sawyer. Those who knew Patti will remember her joyful, infectious laugh, her compassion and generosity for others, and her unwavering commitment to her family and friends. She exemplified this love by always being present in the lives of those she cared for, for all moments, big and small.
Patti leaves behind her loving husband, John; children, Mary Rose (Christopher O'Byrne), Jack, and Annie; mother, Bunny; siblings, Kelly (John) Cullen, John (Tracey) DiFalco, Jim (Ipek Serifsoy) DiFalco, Paul DiFalco, Frank (Marueen) DiFalco, and Mary (Steve) Garcia, in-laws Kevin (Mary Claire) Patwell, Patricia (Mike Weschler) Patwell, Moira (Joe) Calandra; and dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is preceded by her father, Dominic DiFalco; nephew, Kevin Cullen; niece, Terry DiFalco; and in-laws, Jack and Rosemary Patwell.
We would like to thank the terrific staff of Doctors, Nurses, and Aides at St. Peter's, who took loving care of Patti for nine years.
A powerful way to honor Patti's legacy, is to uphold the values that she exemplified throughout her life, fund science and research efforts, protect human rights, fight for justice, and spread love.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 20 from 4 to 8 p.m., in the WM. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144. The Celebration of Life service to honor the memory of Patti Patwell will be held on Tuesday, October 21, at 10 a.m., at Holy Spirit Church, 667 Columbia Tpk., East Greenbush, N.Y. 12061.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, N.Y. 12204, Peppertree Rescue, 279 Troy Rd. Suite 9, Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144, or St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 310 South Manning Bvd., Albany, N.Y. 12208.

I'm so very sorry to read of Patti's passing. Patti and I worked together for the state in the late 1990s. Her office was across from mine and we shared a lot of laughs and the joy of both of us being pregnant at the same time. I hope you will be comforted by many wonderful memories of Patti. Yesterday

My prayers go out to Patti´s family. I didn´t know Patti well, but anytime I was around her she was always so pleasant, funny, upbeat and kind and it was so apparent how much she adored her family. She seemed like a ray of sunshine. Hoping for peace and healing for her family.
