Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Natural State Funeral Service & Crematory on Jul. 7, 2025.
Patricia Lee Qualley, 82, of Little Rock returned to her eternal home on July 3, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Known affectionately as Patti, she was born on December 3, 1942, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, to parents Claude and Mary Parsons (née Hoyle). While serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Claude and family lived in France. There, Patti met and married Earnest Norwood (serving in the US Air Force). They later moved to Colorado, where they welcomed their two daughters into the world, eventually divorcing. In 1990, she met and married Lyle Qualley. They moved to his home state of North Dakota and bought a winter home in Little Rock to be near Patti's family.
Over the course of her life, Patti lived at more than 49 addresses, and similarly worked a wide variety of jobs. Her creativity and determination led her to work as a snow plow operator, caterer, florist, landscaper, nursing home aide, cosmetic saleswoman for Max Factor, farmer, homesteader, Temple Square gardener, Temple Square tour guide, engraver, pizza maker, custodian, hospital secretary, church secretary and Avon lady. She had a passion for learning new things and using her creativity and resourcefulness to make the world a more beautiful place. She often used her variety of skills to give thoughtful, homemade gifts. She was talented with drawing, painting, sewing, macrame, knitting, crocheting, and making furniture, and was always happy to teach her children and grandchildren anything she knew.
Those who knew her often remarked on her warm smile and upbeat attitude. Patti loved animals and nature, keeping a variety of pets throughout her life, including several dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and a pig. She spent much of her time outdoors, tending to a garden in any home she lived in. She saw God in the beauty of the world around her, and sought to share His kingdom with everyone around her. A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she always strove to be obedient to the Lord and to share His love with her neighbors. She served as a missionary in France, aided by her fluency in French, and in Atlanta, Georgia. After Patti and Lyle married, they served two more missions in Nauvoo, Illinois and Elberta, Utah.
Patti is preceded in death by husband Lyle and parents Claude and Mary. She is survived by daughters Virginia Stuckey (Peter) and Elizabeth Sundeen (Michael), both of Little Rock, sister Gerry Parsons and niece Julie Dinsdale (Tyler), both of Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada, niece Sarah Gabert of California, grandchildren Michael Loving (Amber) of Sherwood, Christine Garimalla (Akshaya) of Atlanta, James Sundeen of Dallas, Daniel Stuckey (fiancée Kate) of Little Rock, Joshua Sundeen (Amy) of Houston, Joseph Stuckey, Donovan Sundeen, Rachel Stuckey, and Sarah Stuckey, all of Little Rock, and great-granddaughter Shannon Loving of Sherwood.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10:00am with funeral service starting at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 600 S. Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock, Arkansas. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock.
