We are saddened to announce that Patricia Sue Smith, age 86, of Albion, Michigan, passed peacefully from the comfort of her home into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2026. Pat was born on July 27, 1939, the daughter of the late Hiram and Gertrude Tackett. She worked as a Nurses Aid at Albion Community Hospital for 25 years, was a member of UPCI Pentecostal Church, and was active at the Senior Center of Martin, Tennessee. In her free time she enjoyed spending time outside taking care of her flowers, garden, and yard. Pat also loved to bake, cook, drink coffee, and collect recipe books. She loved spending time with her friends and family and was the best Bible Quizzing Coach ever.
Along with her parents, Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Nathan M. Smith; daughter, Niaetta Lea Manthei; and several siblings. She is survived by her children, Sadonna Mae Smith of Martin, TN and Ritha Renee (Allen) Howell of Albion, MI; grandchildren: Olivia (Trevor) Jones, Victoria Schoen, Alaina Manthei, Hailee London, Jason Howell, Lindsay (Kacey) Clark, Amy (Sergio) Howell, Kalinda Vogel, Nate Miller, Hannah Howell, Maxx (Han) Canute, and Jared Howell; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Sherwood Tackett of Martin, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
Services honoring Pat’s life will be held in Michigan and Tennessee. In Michigan, Pat’s visitation will begin at 12 noon until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Christ Apostolic Church in Albion with Rev. Terron Erwin officiating. The Tennessee services will be on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with visitation beginning at 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church in Union City with Rev. Paul Ray Cagle officiating. Pat will be laid to rest beside her husband, Nathan, at East Side Cemetery in Martin, Tennessee. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Nate Miller, Will Tackett, Evan Laster, Seth Bradshaw, Andrew Cagle, and Brad Buford.
