Patricia H Thunell, 75, loving wife of Steven R. Thunell, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on December 22, 2022, in Taylorsville, Utah, after a difficult battle with dementia.
She leaves us with broken hearts, to be reunited with family members that have gone ahead, to include her brother Mike, and our loving son Matthew.
Patricia was born on February 23, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA, to Billy Hamby and Frances Runnels
Patricia graduated from highland high school where she met her best friend and sweetheart, Steven Thunell whom she was sealed to on June 21, 1966 in the Salt Lake City Temple. The couple had 7 children in 10 years, Teri, Steven Chad (Bree), Kristi, Kami Villa (Carlos), Tina Smith (Steve), Matthew, and Kelli.
She faithfully served with her husband as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints. They spent an 18 month Military Relations Mission in Yokosuka, Japan serving Church members of the U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet; She also served with her husband for two months at the Martins Cove Handcart site. She served various positions in the Church with her favorite as part of the funeral service committee.
Patricia was an accomplished seamstress creating patterns at a young age and sewing beautiful wedding dresses for her daughters. Patricia ran day care services for working mothers early in her marriage, and then formed and operated a rental home business for over 30 years.
Patricia was best known for her unwavering faith in her Savior Jesus Christ, her unconditional love for her family and everyone she met, and her hard work ethic.
Patricia is survived by Steven Thunell, her sweetheart, 6 children, 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Patricia is preceded in death by her brother Mike, son Matthew, mother Frances, father Billy, brother-in-law Robert, and many other loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday December 30, at 11:00 AM, with a viewing prior to services from 10:00-10:45 AM, at the Taylorsville Ward building on 4950 S 1950 W in Taylorsville, Ut. A viewing will be held Thursday, December 29, from 6:00-8:00pm at the Taylorsville Ward building.
Burial services will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Ut.
Donations can be made through Venmo, @Kami-Villa, to the Thunell trust fund.
