Rosette Hanshaw Obituary

Rosette Faye Hanshaw, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Rosette was born July 22, 1944, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Clyde Wilbur Sibbett and Elnora Christina Sibbett. She spent her early childhood on a dairy farm outside of Spokane, Washington where she developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for family. Her teenage years were spent in Spokane Valley, where she graduated from Central Valley High School.

She attended Brigham Young University and later graduated from Eastern Washington University with an art teaching degree, where she pursued her love of art. Creativity remained a lifelong passion, and she continued creating artwork throughout her life.

In March 1968, Rosette married Robert Eugene Hanshaw. Together they worked to build a home focused on the teachings of Jesus Christ as they raised their six children. Robert passed away in 2002, and Rosette looked forward to the day when they would be reunited.

In a tender and meaningful blessing, Rosette passed away on what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary, a moment her family finds comfort in knowing she was able to be with her beloved husband again for that special celebration.

Rosette's greatest joy was her family. She endured the ups and downs of raising six children and devoted many years to nurturing and supporting them. Her love expanded as she became the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy.

She is survived by her children: Annamarie Reed of South Jordan, Utah; Timothy Hanshaw of Cedar Hills, Utah; Maralee Vincent of West Valley City, Utah; James Hanshaw of West Valley City, Utah; Malia Martin of Renton, Washington; and David Hanshaw of Anderson, Missouri.

She is also survived by her brothers, Bruce Sibbett of San Bernardino, California, and Lyman Sibbett of Cowley, Wyoming.

Rosette had a lifelong love of creativity, family history, and learning. She was especially passionate about genealogy, spending many hours researching and preserving her family's heritage. She was also known for her spicy personality and eclectic interests-from teaching ESL to Russian emigrants to raising guinea pigs, Rosette was truly an eclectic person-qualities that made her memorable and loved by those who knew her well.

Those who knew Rosette will remember her for her devotion to her family, her creative spirit, and the unique personality that made her truly one of a kind. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held in both Utah and Washington.
