Patrick Burns Obituary
Col. Patrick William Burns was retired from the United States Army. He was an avid motorcycle rider who also had a love for the outdoors. As a skilled hunter, he respected nature and often ventured into the wilderness to reflect and find peace. While his prowess on the golf course was equally notable, his zest for life shone through in the simplest of pleasures, like using his backpack leaf blower.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Burns; and a granddaughter, Khloe Vann.
Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christy Burns; two children, Ginny Vann (Tim) and Jared Burns (Angela); two grandchildren, Klayton Vann (Catie Banks) and Kenna Vann; three siblings, Coleen Northrop (Cliff), Mike Burns and Marsha Langan (Tom); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his eight fur babies.
The funeral for Mr. Burns is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove with Pastor Jason Brock officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Fort Knox Post Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mayo Clinic to support Amyloidosis research.
