Patrick J. "Rick" Butler Jr.

1961 - 2022

Patrick J. "Rick" Butler, Jr. passed away July 13, 2022 from complications of kidney cancer and was buried in a private ceremony at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana. He was 60 years of age. Rick graduated from Jesuit High School New Orleans, the University of Notre Dame, and Duke Law School, each with various honors. He retired from the practice of law as a partner of Phelps Dunbar, L.L.P. in New Orleans. He served nine years on the Board of Commissioners of the New Orleans City Park Improvement Association, helping to guide the park through Hurricane Katrina and its immediate aftermath as President of the Board from 2003-2006. Rick is survived by his mother, Barbara Racivitch Butler; sister, Barbara Butler; uncles, Peter J. Butler and James F. "Bill" Setchell; aunts, Billie Butler and Judy Setchell; and cousins, Peter J. Butler, Jr., Thomas J. Butler, Julie Butler, Suzi Setchell Harrell, Kristy Setchell Tervo, Teresa Setchell Greenlee, David Setchell, and Mary Setchell Ruddick.
