Patrick Donald Cannon

DEERFIELD-Patrick Donald "Packer" Cannon, age 77, of Deerfield, died Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family while under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. He was born May 8, 1948, in Adrian, the son of the late Edwin and Angela (Grodi) Cannon.
A lifelong Deerfield resident, Pat graduated from Deerfield High School with the Class of 1966. Early in his working career he was employed in refuse collection, where he proudly earned the nickname "Packer". He went on to work in the trades, and was employed with various area builders as a commercial carpenter. He was a longtime member of the Carpenters Local 687 in Warren, MI. Devoted to his community, Pat selflessly served on the Deerfield Township Fire Department for over 30 years and was promoted to chief for much of that tenure.
In his spare time, Pat enjoyed golfing as well as playing cards at the Petersburg VFW and Deerfield American Legion. For decades, he rented a dock at Devils Lake and spent many summer afternoons boating, in addition to the family's annual 2-week cottage rental. Pat was not only well-known in the Deerfield community but was also well-liked and very personable. His quiet presence will be forever missed.
Surviving Pat are two sons, Conrad (Bethany) Cannon of Saline and Luke Cannon of Deerfield; a daughter, Colbi (Dale) Cousino of Lake Somerset; a sister, Connie (Melvin) Sieler of Deerfield; lifelong friend and mother of his children, Carol Love of Lake Somerset; two maternal uncles, Wayne Grodi of Clark Lake and Charles Grodi of Adrian; paternal aunt, Jean Geiger of Ida; four grandchildren, Evan Keebler, Dylan Cannon, Chloe Straits and Gavin Cousino; and four great-grandchildren.
Private family committal will take place in the Deerfield Township Cemetery. A public celebration of life dinner will be held at the Deerfeild American Legion Post 392 on Saturday, November 22, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations in honor of Pat are suggested to benefit the Deerfield Firefighters Association. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Marry Funeral Home, Blissfield.
