Patrick Cross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Inc. - Columbus on Feb. 24, 2026.
Patrick Neal Cross, 63, of Columbus, died on February 21, 2026 at 3:58 a.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital. Patrick was born September 21, 1962 in Columbus, the son of the late Carlie T. Cross Sr. and Virgie (Green) Cross. He retired from Cummins in 2025.

Patrick was a true master of his craft, known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and unmistakable love for all things mechanical. A six-time Master Technician, he had an extraordinary ability to fix anything that ran on fuel – if it was combustible, Patrick could bring it back to life. His passion extended beyond the shop to dirt track racing, fishing trips, and backyard cookouts. After earning associate degrees in Information Technology and Mechanics, he dedicated many years of service to Cummins before retiring in 2025. Whether under the hood of an engine or surrounded by loved ones, Patrick lived with purpose, skill, and heart.

In honoring the family's wishes, cremation was chosen with burial at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.

He is survived by his son, Dustin Tyler Cross; his spiritual daughter, Nicole Hernandez; his siblings, Carlie Cross Jr., Jeff Cross, and Dimple Cross; many cousins and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carlie Sr. and Virgie Cross; his siblings, Tim Cross, Joe Cross, Jackie Cross, and Faye Littrell.

Services were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory. You are invited to send a message to the family registry or light a candle in Patrick's honor at www.jewellrittman.com
