Patrick F. Delahunt moved on to his next life on December 23 at the age of 72.

Patrick lived his life in big, bold color. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 23, 1953, he carried with him a constant curiosity and a deep appreciation for culture and connection. His proudly called New York City, the Bay Area, and later Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, home, before returning to the Midwest-living in Chicago and, most recently, Minneapolis, where he settled to be closer to family.

Patrick built successful careers in publishing and in development, work that perfectly combined his love of reading and culture, of people, and of creativity. He was deeply curious and gifted at bringing ideas and people together, qualities that defined both his professional life and his friendships.

A true world traveler, Patrick embraced life wherever he landed. He soaked in art, music, food, and friendships across continents, collecting stories and memories along the way. He had a gift for living fully in the moment. Patrick's warmth, wit, and colorful spirit left an indelible impression on everyone lucky enough to know him. Many knew him by the nickname Trotsky.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathryn Delahunt, his brother, Daniel Delahunt, and his sister-in-law, Shirley Delahunt. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Tom, Mary, and Suzy; his nieces and nephews Andrea, Chris (Katie), Todd (Stephanie), Terry (Kelly), and Kiley (Savannah); and many cherished Delahunt and Scullin cousins, along with a wide circle of friends who became family throughout his life, most notably lifelong friend Nicholas Joyner.

Patrick's legacy lives on in the places he explored, the relationships he nurtured, and the joy and color he brought to the world.

A memorial celebration of Patrick's life will be announced at a later date. Donations in his memory may be sent to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to Howard Brown Health in Chicago.
