Patrick Elsberry Obituary

PATRICK ELSBERRY
1948 ˜ 2024

Pat passed to his Heavenly home February 26, 2024. He will be remembered for his gentle kindness and ever-present sense of humor. He loved to laugh and never took himself too seriously.

Pat was born in Conrad, MT, where he attended high school and later graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula with a B.A. in education. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and was selected for a full ROTC scholarship during his junior and senior years. During his freshman year, Pat met his one true love, Trudy, and they eloped to Coeur d’Alene, ID, a few months later. After they graduated from UM, Pat’s career as an Army officer took them to various places, including three years in Germany. They moved to Vancouver in 1980 where he worked in production management and financial services.

Pat enjoyed church activities, exercise classes at Firstenburg Center, social, volunteer, and community functions, many fun family activities, and just trying to keep up with Trudy! Pat was an active member of Mannahouse Church where he participated in several ministries over the years. In 2011, Pat retired from QC Financial Services. He and Trudy had many interesting and exciting travel adventures on European land tours, cruises, and road trips to 49 countries and 42 states. Through the years he and Trudy have generously supported many charities and ministries locally and internationally.

Pat lit up our lives with love and joy, and we hold close and cherish the memories he gave us. In addition to his brother, survivors include Trudy, his one true love of 56 years, his daughter and son-in-law, his son, and his three grandkids and their spouses who will remember the fun times they had with the Papa who loved and nurtured them. The one thing he does not leave is the love and forgiving power of Jesus and the awesome grace of God. At his request, there will be a military graveside service with the immediate family.

And, Ryan!!!! I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I moved back to Vancouver maybe 15 years ago, not far from the old hood and pass by your mom and dad´s home often to go to the post office. I think of you and your family (and those old days) a lot. Sorry to hear about your dad.

Mrs. Ellsberry, I am so sorry to read this. Ryan was my friend in junior high and high school and I had interacted with both of you because of that. Your husband was always kind. Shauna, I am so sorry for your loss as well.

Pat: I wished you a happy birthday earlier, but I wanted to say it again: Happy Birthday my brother!

Pat worked with me for almost fifteen years. He lived his faith with a consistent positive attitude and an unwavering defense of his employees. No one could work with Pat for that long without growing to love him. He is missed.

Pat was an amazing man. Caring, fun, and smart. He gave me what I thought was a short term job that led to a 15 year career, which gave me the experience and skills I needed to land an amazing position with the state. I will always remember him with love and appreciation.
