Patrick Hilton Herman

Patrick Hilton Herman passed away at the age of 72 peacefully with family in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Born June 10, 1953 in Miami, Florida, Patrick lived a life marked by adventure and a renowned love for the natural world. Patrick graduated Westfield High School Class of 1971 and Kent University Class of 1979 in New Jersey. His professional career in maritime shipping with Sea-Land Service brought him across seas to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. An avid traveler and explorer, Patrick's memorable early explorations were North Africa and Ecuador. Patrick's dedication to the natural world was marked by his service with the United States Forest Service where he worked at Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, helping visitors discover the eastern slopes of the Cascades in Washington State.
Patrick's favorite place to be was the backcountry. A mountaineer, hiker and camper, Patrick enjoyed challenging explorations to national forests, parks, peaks and wilderness. His strong faith in God was intertwined with his unwavering deep love for the outdoors. One of his favorite locations was Glacier Peak Wilderness. He will be remembered for exploring desolate and majestic landscapes and earning profound wisdom from each adventure.
His death was preceded by his mother, Jean Veronica Herman who passed January 19, 2025 at age 96. He is survived by five daughters who he loved and cared for deeply; Tirzha, Xiomara, Allyson, Gwendolyn and Evelyn.
